posture of the month
“This is the most important pose. Do it right and all the others will follow.” Vanda Scaravelli
stand with feet comfortably apart – toes spreading – heels dropping
your mountain base is wide and steady
let breath move softly
relax your shoulders – head rising skyward
stay awhile – until you become quieter
much quieter
listen to that peace and quiet!
let your body become even quieter
breathe out – from your head to the earth
then wait. wait in silence
then open to the new breath – in through your feet, up into your body space, to the summit.
i have learnt to respect the mountain.
“Great things are done when men and mountains meet.” William Blake
(this is the posture we also call samastiti – they are not strictly the same – but let’s not quibble)!
