yoga
"Yoga exists in the world because everything is linked."
T K V Desikachar
Yoga is a physical, energetic and psychological practice, rooted in Ancient Indian history and widely practiced in the West today. Yoga works with the energy of the body, the breath and the mind to promote health and well being, improve flexibility and strength and enhance awareness and a deeper understanding of ourselves.
teaching
At The Yoga Studio, Leila teaches Yoga in the authentic tradition in which she has practised for 20 years with her teacher Paul Harvey. Rooted in the teachings of T Krishnamacharya, whose work has deeply influenced the Western understanding of Yoga, this approach, as developed by his son T K V Desikachar, is the special application of yoga techniques for everyone.
Yoga has a toolkit of techniques that include postures, breathing, meditation and chanting. With skilful application of the tools everyone, of any age, ability and culture can access the benefits of yoga. Leila is able to modify postures to suit you, as in this tradition, importance is placed on the function of the posture, not the form and each student develops at his/her own pace.

Practice of Yoga can both calm and energise, it can develop fitness and improve strength and can help the body recover from illness or injury. Yoga can help us manage stress and improve focus and concentration. It can help us to move forward with a clearer connection to ourselves and others.
This approach to yoga is ideal for helping students develop their own practice.
