silently repeating a phrase or mantra with the breath in meditation, can be a helpful awareness tool and doesn’t have to be complicated.

for example
as you breathe in – ‘i breathe in’
as you breathe out – ‘i am breathing out’

find something that is meaningful and suits your breath length. the exhale is naturally longer than the inhale so its phrase should be longer.

‘i breathe in the morning breeze
i breathe out with the leaves falling to earth’
