flow

This morning there is frost – and the season is tumbling more easily into the fall. All summer there has been an essential gathering stillness to our practices which seemed elemental, but with today’s shift it feels right to find some flow again. We can allow our focus to move to the svadhisthana cakra at the pelvis. Practices for this cakra are flowing and focus on the pelvis – opening the hips.

The teaching is that the essence of the energy here is fluid, flexible and adaptive. When the energy is balanced and moving freely, the conditions are created for the blossoming of creativity, as well as a cleansing quality which arises from letting go and opening up to new thoughts, ideas and experiences, in touch with pleasures that feel and taste good.

Water is the element of the svadhisthana cakra, which when balanced, allows us to be in flow without losing our boundaries, sensitive without being over emotional, full of dreams and with the ability to put them into practice.

“Nothing in the world is more flexible and yielding than water… So the flexible overcome the adamant, the yielding overcome the forceful.” Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
